So, now that they seemingly walk among us, what do Belzebubs sound like? Well, it was worth the wait. This is some of the most gloriously evil blackened death metal I have ever heard. It’s polished, triumphant, and diabolically sinister.
Necrophobic really are one of the bands to beat when it comes to blackened death metal. The best elements of the influential genres are all on display here, combined into powerful, tremendously appealing, headbangers of tracks.
Blackened death metal is perhaps one of my favourite combination genres, but I’ll also admit that, while many bands do it well, it’s a hard subgenre to do very well. Hate do blackened death metal better than almost everybody.
It’s a journey to another world. A weird, fucked up, slug-filled world. A journey you don’t know how to pronounce... (Sludge? Sluggage? Slugj?) but one that is definitely worth your time.
