While living in Italy, Mike Patton was inspired by what he heard on the radio – Italian pop music backed by orchestras. This led to the conception of Mondo Cane – a 40-piece orchestra and 15-piece band backing Patton, as they covered 50s and 60s Italian pop tunes.
It’s an idea so uniquely… Patton. Only he could throw himself so completely into such a concept. More importantly, he’s one of the very few who could pull it off.
Not only does Patton have the vocal skills to delivery the necessary bravado for such a performance, he also speaks fluent Italian, adding an obvious positive to the performances.
It maybe isn’t something for the average Faith No More fan, but any fan of Patton’s voice is sorely missing out if they’ve yet to experience Mondo Cane.
