When Tribulation first came along on the mid 2000s, they were a relatively straightforward Swedish melodeath band. However, starting with their third full length in 2015, the band has expanded and altered its sound dramatically.

On the three albums released between 2015 and now, Tribulation have incorporated more gothic elements, as well as traditional metal inspirations, as well as progressive and even psychedelic touches.

Johannes Andersson’s vocals are sinister, carrying lushly produced gothic instrumentals, telling tales of the occult and other dark age horrors.

With each album, as they’ve become more adventurous and confident in their amalgam sound, Tribulation have received considerable critical acclaim, and hold a formidable reputation in metal.

Tribulation’s signature sound, a gothic, progressive melodeath monster, is masterful and unique, and every bit deserving of the praise it receives.
