Again, I preface today’s post with the admission that I am thankful to have a Finnish partner meaning an investment in Finland and it’s metal scene as brought such an amazing band to my attention.
Turmion Kätilöt are a Finnish industrial metal band formed in the early 2000’s who put on one of the most electrifying performances I’ve ever seen.
When I was fortunate enough to see Turmion Kätilöt live, it was in Finland in a small performance space (clearly too small for this band) packed with enthusiastic Finnish fans – without a doubt the best way to have my first experience with this band.
At this point I was only familiar with a few of their songs, but I knew I liked them. But it didn’t matter if I didn’t know the songs, or if I understood the Finnish lyrics, because I was surrounded by people screaming every word. It was joyful.
The music is fun, bouncy, and fast – like a bastardised metal EDM. It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand the lyrics, because the melodies and hooks are so damned catchy you’ll try and sing along anyway.
